Who we are
Surely is a trading style of PJG Financial Limited, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC535782, with its registered office at 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh EH2 4AN. PJG Financial Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 919697, and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZB537016.
Surely is an insurance broker, not an insurer. We help you compare life insurance and protection products from selected UK insurers, brokers and adviser partners. We may provide quotes online, arrange contact with a qualified protection adviser, or introduce you to a suitable partner, and we may receive a commission if you take out a policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us
Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, postcode, and any lifestyle or health information relevant to your enquiry.
Technical information
Your IP address, device type and browser, and information about how you interact with our website.
Communication data
Records of your preferences, enquiries, and any communication you have with us.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Prepare your quotes and match you with suitable insurers, brokers or advisers
- Pass your details to relevant partners so they can contact you about your enquiry
- Run, secure and improve our website
- Prevent and detect fraud
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
Our lawful bases for using your data
Under data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for using your personal data. The bases we rely on are:
- Consent. When you request a quote or agree to be contacted, and for any health and lifestyle information you give us. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Steps before a contract. To prepare quotes and arrange cover at your request.
- Legitimate interests. To operate, secure and improve our services and to prevent fraud.
- Legal obligation. Where we are required to process data by law or by our regulator.
Health and lifestyle information
To get you accurate life and health insurance quotes, we may collect information about your health and lifestyle, such as whether you smoke or have any medical conditions.
This is special category data under data protection law. We only collect and share it with your explicit consent, or where another lawful condition for insurance applies. You can withdraw your consent at any time, although this may mean we cannot continue with your enquiry.
Who we share your data with
When you request a quote, we share your information with selected partners, including life insurance brokers, insurers and advisers, and with technology providers who help us run our service. These partners may contact you by phone, email or SMS about your enquiry, and are responsible for how they use your data under their own privacy policies.
We only work with partners we believe are reputable and that comply with UK data protection law. We do not sell your personal data.
Where your data is processed
We aim to process your data within the UK. If any of our partners or service providers process data outside the UK, we take steps to make sure it is protected to UK standards, for example through an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
Automated processing
Parts of your quote may be produced automatically to match you with suitable products. Decisions about whether to offer you a policy, and on what terms, are made by the insurer or adviser, who will explain their own process. If a decision that significantly affects you is ever made by solely automated means, you have the right to ask for it to be reviewed by a person.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data only for as long as we need it to provide our services, meet our legal and regulatory requirements and resolve any disputes. Some records must be kept for several years to meet financial and regulatory obligations. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data.
Your rights
Under data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your data
- Ask us to transfer your data to another organisation
- Withdraw your consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.
